Werner Fall Protection | Tech Talk | Horizontal Lifelines
In this Werner Tech Talk episode, Kevin Denis, Werner’s Technical Service Manager, dives into the complexities of temporary horizontal lifelines—and why they’re not as simple as stringing a rope between two points. Kevin explains how horizontal lifelines differ from vertical systems, especially when it comes to force vectors and anchor loading. You’ll learn: Why horizontal lifelines can generate forces up to 15x greater than the fall arrest force -The importance of using engineered systems instead of makeshift setups -How span length, line tension, and number of users affect anchor requirements -Why all horizontal lifelines must be designed and supervised by a qualified person He also walks through Werner’s engineered rope and cable systems, including: -Built-in high-capacity energy absorbers that limit anchor loads to under 2,500 lbs -Compatibility with standard 5,000 lb anchors -Tensioning methods and clearance estimation using included charts -Connection options using lanyards or SRLs Whether you're a safety professional, site supervisor, or crew member working at height, this video will help you understand how to select and safely use horizontal lifelines on the jobsite. https://www.wernerco.com/us ------------------ FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/WernerSafetyAboveAll Instagram https://www.instagram.com/WernerSafetyAboveAll Twitter https://twitter.com/Werner_Safety

Werner Fall Protection | Tech Talk | SRLs and ANSI z359.14-2021
Welcome to this quick Tech Talk where Kevin Denis will break down the latest updates to Werner Self-Retracting Lifelines (SRLs) and the ANSI Z359.14 standard. In this video, we cover: *The shift from the 2014 ANSI SRL classification (Class A & B with subcategories) to a simplified two-class system. *The difference between Class 1 (anchorage above the back D-ring) and Class 2 (anchorage at or below the back D-ring, including foot level). *Performance requirements for each class, including arrest distance and force thresholds. *Why some companies are choosing to standardize on Class 2 SRLs. Key features of Werner SRLs, including: *Proven performance and early market availability *Fast lock-up and freedom of movement *Arrest distances that exceed ANSI requirements *Color-coded housing (blue for Class 1, yellow for Class 2) *Durable, recessed labels and ergonomic carrying handles We also clarify that older 2014 SRLs are still compliant if they pass inspection and haven’t reached the end of their service life. https://www.wernerco.com/us #Werner #SRL #FallProtection #ANSI #SafetyTalk #TechTalk
Werner Fall Protection | Tech Talk | Roofing Kits
In this video, Kevin Denis, Werner's Technical Services Manager, talks about roofing kits. These versatile systems are suitable for residential and commercial roofs, but they are often misused. Kevin reviews the fundamentals of installation and uses on a residential roof. Each roofing kit includes a harness, an anchor, and a lifeline with a rope adjuster and energy-absorbing lanyard. The harness is straightforward—inspect it, put it on, and adjust it. Kevin focuses on the anchor and lifeline. The A210400 anchor mounts on the roof peak and gains strength by connecting to the truss with 12 screws or nails. Key points include installing all screws by hand, pulling the anchor within 22 1/2° of center, and possibly needing multiple anchors. The lifeline connects to the anchor, and the rope adjuster allows for travel restraint and fall arrest applications. Proper planning and correct installation are crucial.
